About A Good Music
AGood Music is currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. The company originally started in the late 1980s in Brooklyn, NY as a sound system called Emperor Tone playing gigs at clubs, parties and events throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Philadelphia. Emperor Tone grew to great prominence when it played at a sold out benefit concert for the victims of hurricane Gilbert in Jamaica.
In the early 1990s, while Emperor Tone was at its peak and respected as one of the greatest reggae, calypso, soca and hip-
hop sound system in New York, owner Devon Powell decided he wanted to take the company to the next level in music. To
accomplish his goals, Mr. Powell built a studio and started the record label Dungeon Dog. In 1994 Dungeon Dog recorded and released the label’s first two singles. ‘Woman inna mi heart’ by Sweet Plum and Kaya Digit, and ‘Get a new life’ by Fowlhead, whose name has since changed to Bookman. The songs did
well on the reggae music scene and again Mr. Powell decided he wanted to go even higher in the music business. So
Dungeon Dog, which was primarily a reggae label, was renamed to Stella City Records. At Stella City, there were no
boundaries to the genre of music with which the company was willing to work.
In 2001, Stella City recorded a hip-hop and R&B compilation album. Because of the name of the album and the major events
of 2001, the label had no choice but to abandon the project, though the album's conception was way before the events
occurred. The name of the album was ‘Black Terrorists’ and the album cover had a grim reaper holding up the world in the
palm of his hand, with the world trade center on top of it. Of course the world changed after December 11, 2001 and so too
did the idea of releasing this album. This did not discourage CEO, Devon Powell - He went back to the drawing board
and now he brings you the new entertainment company, AGood Music.
At the leadership helm of AGood Music is Devon Powell and Renard Milner. With their years of experience in the music
business, and the hard work from their dedicated staff, AGood Music is destine to be a leader in the entertainment
industry. So what was once a sound system in New York City has now grown into a fully tooled entertainment company. AGood Music is comprised of a recording studio, a record label, beats production and sales, and online music distribution.
